Wanda K. Bennett-Anderson 63 of Abilene passed away Friday September 12, 2014 at Hendrick Medical Center. Funeral Services will be held Friday September 19th 2014 at 11am at the Southwest Drive United Methodist Church located at 3025 Southwest Drive, with Pastor Iziar Lankford as the Eulogist. A visitation will be held at the church Thursday September 18th from 6-8pm. Wanda was born September 2, 1951 in Abilene to the parentage on Samuel Bennett Sr. and Cora Jones. Wanda received her primary education through Abilene ISD graduating from Carter G. Woodson High in the late 1960's. Wanda worked as a care taker for many years and enjoyed caring for people. She loved cooking and especially baking pies and cakes. She loved music and loved to dance, most of all she loved the lord and loved spending time with her grandchildren. Left to cherish her memories are mother Cora Jones of Abilene, husband and longtime friend Michael Word of Abilene, daughter Raychel Peoples Bacchus of Abilene, 2 sons Darryl Peoples and Shaun Davis both of Abilene, 2 sisters Sheila Elliot of Houston and Janet B. Hamilton of Abilene, 3 brothers Billy Ray Bennett of Houston, Louie Bennett of Abilene and Norris Bennett of Georgia, 5 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren Preceding her in death is her father Samuel E.
