Thurman Dwight Chandler, age 75, of Temple, Texas, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2024 in Temple, Texas. Funeral Services will be held Friday November 15, 2024 at Brownwood Funeral Home at 1:00pm with burial to follow at Greenleaf Cemetery.
Born on November 28, 1948, in Brownwood, Texas, Thurman was the beloved son of Ray and Clara Belle (Smith) Chandler.
After graduating from Brownwood High School, Thurman served honorably in the United States Army for eight years as an Aircraft Mechanic and Repairman, as well as a Marksman. He was awarded the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal for his service in Korea. Thurman had a deep passion for cars, a love for fishing, and a lifelong interest in raising fighting roosters. Known for his adventurous spirit and kind heart, he brought joy to all who knew him.
Thurman is survived by Margaret Thomas and Kimmeakia Thomas of San Antonio, Texas; Treva and Johnnie Parker of San Antonio, Texas; Thurman Ray Nickerson and long time partner Donna Martinez of Oklahoma; and stepdaughter Missy Ann Nickerson of Brownwood, Texas, along with eight grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Thurman was predeceased by his father, Ray Chandler; mother, Clara Belle Chandler; brother, Billy Ray Chandler; granddaughter, Peret Lister; and beloved Mary Ann Nickerson (mother to Thurman Ray Nickerson) along with a community of family and friends who will dearly miss him.
