Sylvester Neal Jr. "Uncle Ves" 69 passed away Saturday, March 8, 2014 at Hendricks Medical Center in Abilene, Texas. A memorial Service will be held Wednesday March 12, 2014 at 1pm at the College View Baptist Church with Pastor Randy Roy officiating.
Born July 2, 1944 in Sondheimer, LA. to Sylvester, Sr and Beatrice Neal. Sylvester graduated from Louisiana high school in the early 60's. After graduating he briefly attended Natchez Jr. College in Natchez, LA before being recruited to play basketball at Hardin Simmons University in Abilene. While at Hardin Simmons, Sylvester majored in business which lead to a career in Real Estate. Her worked for Jesse Harris Real Estate Co here in Abilene before moving to Longview, Texas. In 2003 he moved back to Abilene where he remained until his death. Sylvester was a basketball star while attending Hardin Simmons. He loved watching any sports, especially March Madness. "Uncle Ves" loved to tutor his grand-niece and grand-nephew who were the joys of his life.
Sylvester leaves to cherish his memory one sister, Vera Jackson of Abilene, and one brother, Sullivan Brady (Margaret) of Orange TX., one son Lonnie Neal, two step children Chip Reynolds and Leila Reynolds both of Abilene, one nephew, Peter 'P.J." Jackson Jr. and one niece, Kimberly Walker (Bryan),two great nephews, Preston Jackson and Mennon Champion, and two great nieces which he referred to as his princesses, Kymera Robertson and Brylee Walker.
Preceding him in death are both parents and two sisters, Katy Potts and Ailene Morris.
