Beloved Mother, daughter, sister, and friend, Rosa Lee Scott of Brownwood, slipped into her eternal glory Thursday April 30 at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene Texas. She was 57 years young. Home going services will be held Friday May 8th 11:00am at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Pastor Eddy Hayes officiating. The family will receive friends, Thursday May 7, 2015 from 6-8pm at Brownwood Funeral Home located at 2512 Belle Plain. Rosa was born in Houston TX May 20th 1957 to the parentage of Joe Scott and Dorothy Earl Thomas. The family moved to Brownwood in 1965 where she finished her education and graduated from Brownwood High School in 1976. Rosa went on to work for GTE 24 years, Brownwood Manufacturing 12 years, and spent the last 13 years working as a JCO for the Texas Youth Commission Ron Jackson Unit. Rosa accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at an early age, and was a faithful member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church for many years. She was a very loving and compassionate sister and friend to all she knew, and helped raise her great niece Briana Morgan as if she were her own! Left to cherish her memory are her "daughter" Briana and grandchildren Ay'Dein and Jae'Keith. Three sisters Margaret Thomas of San Antonio, Johnnie Tennie (Macio) of San Antonio, and Darlene Sparks (Don) of Houston. Three brothers Michael Thomas (Carmilita) of Brownwood, Benjamin Scott (Andrea) of Brownwood, and Edward Scott of San Antonio. Also special friends Cynthia Pierson and Ethel Penny, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of extended family and friends. Rosa was preceded in death by father Joe Scott, mother Dorothy Earl Thomas, Grandmother Mathewrene Watson, and great Niece Paret Lister. Services entrusted to Brownwood Funeral Home.
