Roberta was born December 14, 1960 to Lonnie Morgan and Alberta Turner in Cleburne Texas and moved to Merkel, TX at an early age, attending Merkel ISD and later moved to Abilene where she attended Cooper High School. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church. Roberta loved to sing and dance, she always made people laugh and feel welcome. Roberta Scruggs , 56, of Abilene, passed away on Sunday July 30, 2017 at Hendrick Medical Center. Left to cherish her memories are Mother Alberta Turner of Abilene her daughters Regina Renee Williams and fiancé Eddie Smith of Valdosta, GA, and her stepdaughter Demicha Scruggs of Adel, GA; Three aunts: Annie Mae Tutt of Merkel, Lillie Mae Williams of Merkel and Hazel Lee of Abilene. She is also survived by seven brothers: Clarence Sims, Lawrence Sims, Jesse Lee Turner and wife Jackie, Roy Lee Turner and wife Mindy, Billy Ray Giddings and wife Chama, all of Abilene; Jerry Turner and wife Trudy of Rockwall, TX, Ronnie Lee Williams of Merkel; and three sisters: Linda Sims and husband Leroy of Wichita Falls, TX , Shirley Turner of Abilene, TX and Cindy Beaver and husband Richard of Trent, TX.; also a host of nieces, nephews and extended family including her best friend Cherry Robinson of Oklahoma and a special niece Lovoria"Poochie" Turner of Houston, TX. Roberta was preceded in death by her husband Willie James Scruggs, a daughter Katrina Nichole Williams, Stepdaughter Laytoya Inman and Stepson William Anthony Scruggs.
