R.W. (Bob) Weeks, departed planet earth on July 16, 2017. A memorial service will be held Saturday July 22, 2017 at 2pm at the Potosi Baptist Church with Pastor Keith Clifton officiating. He was born May 6, 1926, son of Ephraim Weeks and Rosa Christine Jensen in Smithville, Utah. His father Ephraim was one of (13) children born of David and Hannah Weeks, members of a Pioneer Mormon family. R.W. attended North Cache high School, interrupted by World War Two, but received his GED after the war. He enlisted in the Marine Corps Reserve at age 17, and was called for duty on his 18th birthday. He was trained at San Diego, recruit platoon No. 543. He was selected to be a clerk, attended code training school in San Diego, transferred to El Centro NAS, then overseas to Manus Admiralty Island, then Bouganville, when the war ended. His squadron VMR 152 (Part of MAG 25 and First Marine Air Wing) was shipped to Tsingtao China, and remained there until June of 1946. He re-enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps on February 1, 1947 for a (3) year term, was stationed at Boca Raton Army Air Field in Florida and Keesler Field, Mississippi, part of the 3401st Radar Training Squadron. He met his wife Phyllis while stationed at Keesler field and they were married November 1, 1949 . After his discharge he enrolled at Miss State winter term of 1951 and graduated Summer Term of 1953, earning a Bachelor of Science/Business degree. The family by this time, (2) children, moved to Houston, Texas, was employed by Stanolind oil (which became Amoco) for one year, then started with General Crude oil Company for the next 25 years employed as a Petroleum Landman. The company sold out in 1979 and he moved to Abilene, Texas and began his career as an Independent Landman. He was preceded in death by his wife Phyllis Weeks in 1976 and his son David Weeks in 2012, he is survived by sons Robert M. Weeks and Randolph (Randy) Weeks, and daughter Becky Weeks, granddaughters Lisa Ann Rice, Christine Rice, and grandson Chris Weeks and great grandsons Jonathan Rice, Andrew Rice and great granddaughter Rebecca Rice. R.W. was a Mormon (LDS) in his early life, but as an adult had no religious affiliation with a particular church, but believed that the King James Bible was a guide to follow in your daily living.
