Raymond Lee Johnson 84 of Abilene passed away Tuesday May 16, 2017 at his home. Funeral service will be held Saturday May 20, 2017 at 11am at the Galilee Baptist Church with Rev. Billy Allen as the Eulogist. Burial will be held Monday May 22, 2017 at 10am at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery. Family will receive friends Friday from 6-7pm at Galilee Baptist Church located at 1011 Briarwood. Raymond was born February 19, 1933 in Clyde Texas to Dave Loman and Roxie Lyons. Raymond moved to Abilene at an early age and was raised by Ernest and Klomar Johnson. Raymond attended Woodson Elementary and Woodson High School, while in School Raymond was given the nick name "Sweet Cakes". Soon after high school Raymond Joined the United States Marine Corp. Being a man of many trades, Raymond worked as a life insurance salesman, EMT, he worked at an Air Craft Plant, Funeral Home, and was a Pathologist Assistant for several years at Hendrick Medical Center. Raymond loved to Shoot pool and received many trophies over the years from local pool tournaments. He also loved Boxing. Left to cherish his memories are daughters; Vanessa Glenn (Lonnie) of Omaha NE, Debra Ann Johnson of Abilene, Mary Frances Johnson of Austin, Linda Jewel Johnson of Fort Worth, Louise Liza Johnson of Abilene, Sons; Raymond Ernest Johnson of Abilene, Raymond Lee Johnson Jr. of Fort Worth, James Lewis Johnson Abilene. Step Children Mary Barnes, Debra Hickman both of Abilene, and JoAnn Cruz (Victor) of Florida. 40 grandchildren, a numerous great-grandchildren and a host of extended family and many friends. Raymond was preceded in death by parents, sister Ruby Loman, and brothers James Loman and Louis Smith. Services entrusted to Dove Funeral Home.
