Obituary

Mary Ann Payne (Sister) was born October 9,1940 in Coleman, Texas to Tony Baker Sr. and Sylvia Edwards and Mae Baker. She attended Humphrey High School in Coleman, Texas. She graduated from San Angelo State University in Nursing with her LVN license. She was a faithful member at Mt. Calvary Church of God in Christ, Coleman, Texas. She received many recognition awards throughout the years in nursing. Mary Ann Payne passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at the age of 84. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Emmett Eugene Payne; her son, Alonzo Payne; her grandson, Emmett Lavell Brown. Sisters: Claretta Baker Hartford, Cossette Jackson, Christiana Miller, and Eva Mae Holloway. Brothers: Jim Albert Edwards, John Tony Baker "Splinter",Odell Baker, and Claude James Baker. Mary Ann Payne is survived by two daughters, Doris Larkin (Tommy) and Kimala Edward (Donnie): grandchildren, Charlene Randolph, Na'Talya Payne, Bridgette Hester, Manuel Valles Jr., and Courtney Payne: great grandchildren, Brijonae Morris, Samara Padgitt, Carmella Kincaid, Sierra Brown, Aiyana Payne, Marley Randolph, Carson Payne-Miller, Carter Brown, and Ezra Soliz. Mary Ann also leaves behind her sisters: Wanda Jackson, Annie Mae Hubbard, Suzian Perryman, and Ollie Baker; and brothers: Tony "Bill" Baker Jr., Jackie Baker, Samuel Baker, Earl Rankin, Robert Edwards, Nathaniel Baker, Gerald Baker, and Kerry Baker, and many nieces and nephews, as well as a host of loving family members, friends, and loved ones who will miss her dearly. The family of Mary Ann Payne wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Mt. Calvary Church of God in Christ, Aiyana Payne, Barbara Graves, Deborah Holloway-Pilot, Tony "Bill" Baker Jr., Christine Hector-Bitter, and Yumiko Kai, as well as Holiday Hill Nursing Home and Coleman County Medical Center staff. Funeral service will be held November 9, 2024, Saturday at 11:00am at Mt. Calvary Church of God in Christ, Coleman, Texas with burial to follow at the Coleman City Cemetery.
