Marlene Duffie-Atkins 62 a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully Monday May 19, 2025 in Temple, Texas. Funeral services will be held Wednesday May 28, 2025 at 11am at Brownwood Funeral Home with burial to follow at Greenleaf Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 6-8pm at the Brownwood Funeral Home Chapel. Born in Brownwood to the late Peter Joe Duffie and Martha Riggins-Duffie, Marlene lived a life filled with love, laughter, and compassion. She grew up and attended school in Brownwood, where she formed lifelong bonds with her family and community. Marlene dedicated much of her life to caring for others, working for many years as a Certified Nursing Assistant and later in home health care. Her gentle spirit and tireless dedication touched the lives of many. Marlene cherished the simple joys in life - sipping coffee, watching her favorite stories, shopping, and sharing daily conversations with her husband and sister. Her warmth and humor were a comfort to all who knew her. She is survived by her husband, Stephen Atkins of Brownwood, TX, and her loving children: Courtney Duffie (Kimberly) of Brownwood, TX, Tanisha Duffie-Pledger (Chris) of Fort Worth, TX, Jennifer Duffie (David) of Denton, TX Amber Slaughter (Eddie Webb) of Temple, TX, Emily Duffie-Mcphee of Houston, TX Marlene was a proud grandmother to two grandchildren and will be lovingly remembered by her siblings: Brothers: Albert Duffie and Billy Duffie, both of Temple, TX Sisters: Bobby Banks, Mildred White, Darlene Duffie, all of Temple, TX, and Arlene Duffie of Houston, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, four sisters, and her great-grandson, Macaire Trequan Hill. Marlene's unwavering love and strength will remain in the hearts of her family and friends forever. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness and care that will not be forgotten.
