Lorene Ann McCall 77 of Cross plains passed away at Hendrick Medical Center Sunday January 24, 2016. A memorial service will be held Saturday January 30, 2016 at 1:00pm at the Brownwood Funeral Home located at 2512 Belle Plain St. Lorene was born January 26, 1938 in Baird TX, to the parents of Dessa and Roscoe Higgins Lorene briefly attended school in Baird before the family moved to Rio Grande City TX. Lorene and the family lived there until the mid-50's and they then moved to Mathis TX where they would stay for several years before moving to Mission TX. Lorene and family eventually settled in Cross plains in the 90's and would remain there until her recent passing. In her spare time and if the weather permitted Lorene would spend time gardening, Crocheting, and just being outside. Lorene loved to be around family and friends. Lorene was preceded in death by both parents,3 brothers David Lee Higgins, Paul Ray Higgins, Billy Dan Higgins, 2 great grandchildren Brielle Faith Beecroft, and Stephanie Ann Miller. Left to cherish her memories are 4 daughters Doris Fair (David) of McAllen TX, Caroline Guerra of Austin, Kathy Hurst of Houston, Alma Lee Miller of Houston, and 2 sons David Miller (Andi) of Rising Star, and Donald Miller of Cross Plains. 4 sisters Sue Higgins, Helen Cowan, Donna Whitten, Francis Goates and brother Roscoe Higgins. 8 grandchildren, Brandi Coley (Brian), Jimmy Hurst, Jen Beecroft (Blake), Nikki Hurst, Amber Jean (Jake), Cayla Fair, Megan Fuentes(Isaac), and Jeramy Manis Miller, 10 Great Grandchildren Austin, Tyee, Ayden, Elle,Brynlee, Breck, Adysen, Emma, Sienna, and Autmn, and host of extended family and many friends.
