Joyce Laverne Jones, 59, of Abilene, Texas, transitioned on Tuesday, January 19, 2016, in the presence of her loving family. Ms. Jones was born on March 23, 1956, to the late Hattie Elliott, in Midland, Texas. Left to cherish her memories is her partner of over 20 years, Keith Evans; children: Landers Eugene Jones, Shalannda Jones, and Keith Evans, all of Odessa, Texas; Abbreel Pierson, Kendra Jones, and Kurtney Jones, all of Abilene, Texas; grandchildren: Kevin Young, Jasmine Jones, Timonashia Watkins, DeCasa McDaniel, Casha McDaniel, and Kiera Ybarra, all of Abilene, Texas; great grandchild Shaniyah Young; and, siblings: Freddie Mae (Dan) Washington, Sharon (Jerry) Lewis, and Debra Wilson, all of Arlington, Texas; and, Kenny Green of Round Rock, Texas Sheila (Martin) Hernandez, both of Odessa, Texas. Ms. Jones was preceded in death by her mother; brothers: Donald Raye Elliott and Bobby Joe Elliott; sisters: Bobbie Neil Elliott and Eddie Kaye Rose; and, granddaughter Khrachaunnica Jones. A wonderful and dedicated mother and grandmother, Ms. Jones loved arts and crafts and was especially talented with her hands. Anyone who knew Ms. Jones knew she took great pleasure in cooking for her family and visitors did not leave hungry! Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 pm. at Dove Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 27, 2016. A celebration of Ms. Jones' life will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 28, 2016, at King Solomon Baptist Church with Pastor Herman Bealer officiating. Pallbearers will be Billy Paul Cooks, Earl Jackson, Sharrod Perry, James Rose, Robert Chriesman, and Martin Hernandez. Burial will immediately follow Ms. Jones' homegoing service.
