Father, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend Johnny Ray McHenry was born in Cleveland, Texas, to the parentage of Thomas Paul McHenry and Earline Denise Reed-McHenry. Johnny received all of his primary education in Coldspring, Texas, and graduated from Jones High School in 1997. He went on to pursue his secondary education at Kilgore Junior College in Kilgore, Texas, and Southeastern Oklahoma State University (SE) in Durant, Oklahoma. Johnny lived in Durant, Oklahoma, Dallas, Texas, and Coldspring, TX. He worked on oil drills for years, but he later got into construction. Johnny received Christ at an early age through his baptism at Mount Horem Baptist Church in Grapevine, Texas. On June 17, 1998, Johnny married Kelly Alexander in Coldspring, Texas. To this union was born 4 children: Nicholas James age 15, Keonni Earline ShaVel age 14, Jarrod Kellee age 12, and Johnny Ray, Jr. age 10. Johnny was a very smart young man whom God had blessed with amazing athletic talent. Even today," film day" for the football players at SE consists of footage of him during his practices and games. He enjoyed teaching his children and his nephews and nieces about sports; his favorite being football. He was a loving and caring uncle of which was demonstrated in the smallest acts of love; for example, he taught his niece how to tie her shoe strings before she started school. He was there to help anyone in any way he could. His actions and words that are needed for building a strong bond and loving unconditionally are what he leaves in the mind, heart and soul of his children.

Sherpell, Jr.); nephews: Metrick, Vonderall, Brandon, Clyde III; nieces: Donna, Nikki, Aubrey, Brittany, Mia, and JeaShé; and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends.
Preceding him in death was his father Thomas McHenry, mother Earline Reed-McHenry, sister Wanda Evone Fonteno, maternal grandparents Clarence Reed, Sr. and Lucille B. Reed, paternal grandparents Johnny McHenry and Rosie Coleman.
