Joe Starks of Abilene passed away Saturday, July 27, 2019, at Hendrick Hospice Care, Funeral Services will be held Saturday August 3, 2019 at 1:00pm at the North's Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Bobby King Officiating. Visitation will be held Friday from 5-7pm also at the Chapel. Services entrusted to Dove Funeral Home. Joe was born February 6, 1943 in Milam County, Texas to Annie Colbert-Starks and Rubin Starks. He moved to Abilene, Texas at a young age and attended school at Carter G. Woodson. Joe worked as a truck driver and was an entrepreneur, owning his own detail shop. His favorite hobbies were fishing, playing dominoes and spending time with his family. Joe was preceded in death by both parents, two brothers: Ruben Starks, Jr. and Jimmy Starks; two sisters: Freddie Edmond and Magnolia McCullough; and one daughter Cynthia Evans. Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 44 years, Doris Evans-Starks; daughters: Rosalind Evans of Abilene,Texas and Sherry Thomas of Coolidge, Texas; Sons: Tony Gardner of Dallas, Texas, Keith Evans of Odessa, Texas, Joe Starks, Jr. of Abilene, Texas Tony Evans (Essie Brubacker) of Long Beach California, sister Gloria Jordan of Abilene, 19 grandchildren numerous great-grandchildren, and a host of extended family and many friends.
