Joe Frank Hines, 71 of Abilene, TX passed away on January 13, 2014 at Abilene Regional Medical Center. Joe was born on July 6, 1942 in Roanoke, AL to Charlie Frank and Lera Mae Hines. The family later relocated to Abilene, TX where Joe attended Woodson High School. After high school, Joe furthered his education at Prairie View A&M University in Prairie View, Texas. In 1963, Joe moved his family to Long Beach, California. While in Long Beach, he excelled as a Sales Representative for the Manhattan Meat Company. Until retirement, Joe worked as a Bus Driver for the Long Beach Transit. Joe was known for his humor, quick wit, and his low tolerance of nonsense. Joe leaves to cherish his daughter Angela Hines of Long Beach, CA; his father Charlie Frank Hines of Roanoke, AL; sister, Lera Renee Simmons (Russell, Shawn, Patricia) of Long Beach, CA; granddaughter, Victoria Hines; grandson, Josh Hines; a host of loving aunts and extended family of Roanoke, AL; extended family and friends of Abilene, TX; as well as a host of friends of Long Beach, CA. Preceding him in death is his son Carl Lee Hines of Long Beach, CA and his mother Lera Mae Hines of Roanoke, AL.
