Jodie "PoJo" Miller 80, of Brownwood passed away peacefully Tuesday June 3, 2014 at Song Bird Lodge. Services will be held 11am Tuesday June 10, 2014 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Visitation will be held from 6-8pm Monday June 9, at Brownwood Funeral Home.
Known as "PoJo", Jodie was born Dec. 8, 1933 in Mt. Pleasant, TX, to J.M. and Essie J. Miller. Jodie graduated valedictorian from historic Hardin High School, class of 1951 and attended Howard Payne College. He served honorably in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Returning to Brownwood, Jodie worked shortly as a porter at the downtown hotel and later for Weakley Watson Hardware and finally, the Brown County Courthouse.
Jodie is survived by Sons: Jodie Miller, LaJon Miller, Draco Miller (Sonia) and daughter, ILita adams. Former wife Vivian Miller Powell. Sons: Nikki Brown and Demetrius Fisher and daughter Essie Miller. 21 grandchildren, 22 great-grand children, and a host of nieces, nephes and cousins. Jodie was preceded in death by both parents; as well as; brothers, June Miller, Bennie Chapple and Sister Juanice Smith, and granddaughter Yanna Berniard.
