Jimmie Land, 71, passed away on May 2, 2026. He was born on April 12, 1955, in Quanah, Texas to Jimmie and Ruby Land.
Jimmie graduated from Palo Duro High School in 1973 and began a career in law enforcement that spanned more than 30 years. During his distinguished career, he served with the Amarillo Police Department, Brownwood Police Department, and the Dickens County Sheriff's Office. Following his retirement from law enforcement, Jimmie worked for eight years with Allsup's Convenience Store, in Brownwood, Texas.
Jimmie married Jerry Shipman in September of 1987. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jerry, in 2025; his mother, Ruby Land, in 2010; and his son, Jesse, in 1991.
He is survived by his father, Jimmie Land Sr.; his sister, Sherry Haskins; and his brother, Alan Land, all of Amarillo, Texas. He is also survived by his children: Linda Brown (Jeff) of Spur, Robbie Martin (Bill) of Graham, Texas Paul Land (Tammy) of Amarillo, Texas, Ray Smith of Brownwood, Texas, Jay Smith (Stephanie) of Clyde, Texas and Joe Smith (Marie) of Brownwood, Texas.
Jimmie also leaves behind 22 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson, along with many extended family members and friends who will cherish his memory.
