James Delbern Rice was born August 12, 1924 to J. Frank and Bertha Parish Rice. He attended BrooksmithSchool. James served his country during World War II and was a 65 year member of the Free Masons.
He was a lifelong resident of Coleman County being raised in the Rice Community before moving to Trickham Texas, where he enjoyed close relationships with his family and friends.
He married Lorene Featherston Rice who preceded him in death. He married Vickie Francois Rice who survives him.
He was a farmer and rancher, but the oil business was the love of his life; spending many years operating Rice Drilling Company.
James Delbern was a husband, father and grandfather; and, left behind with precious memories, wife Vickie Rice, two sons L. Wendell Rice and wife Jeanie of Trickham, Texas, and S. Lynn Rice and wife Sheree of Brownwood, Texas. His brother Garner Elgene Rice of Brownwood, Texas, six grandchildren Jim Rice, Brady Rice, Allen Rice, Flint Rice, Melissa Rice and Dillon Rice. Eleven great grandchildren, a nephew Benny Rice, two nieces Dana Stasey and Marsha Rice, and lifelong friends Joe and Susie Riley of Brownwood, Texas
A Celebration of Life Memorial will be held:
Saturday July 9, 2016 at 10:00 am at the Trickham Community Church
