Henrietta Myrtle Marie Edwards Woodfaulk 91, affectionately known to all as "Honey" passed away, Wednesday August 13, 2014 at Coronado Nursing Home in Abilene, Tx. Funeral Services will be Friday, August 22, 2014 at 12 noon at Bethel A.M.E. Church, 725 Plum St., Abilene, Tx where Rev. Bean is the pastor and Rev. Kenneth Deckard officiating, and Saturday, August 23, 2014 , 12 noon at Bethel A.M.E. Church, Luling Tx, Rev. Harris officiating. Burial will be at Union Hill Cemetery, Luling, Tx under the direction of Dove Funeral Home, Abilene, Tx. Visitation will be Thursday evening, August 21, 2014 from 6pm - 7:30pm at Bethel A.M.E. Church, 725 Plum St., Abilene, Tx.
Henrietta "Honey" was born May 19, 1923 in Luling, Texas,to the late Willie Edwards and Carrie Mae Ross-Edwards along with a twin brother Henry James Edwards who was called home July 26, 1984. She grew up in Luling, Tx where she attended the public schools, later furthering her education by obtaining a degree in music and becoming a license Cosmotologist. After the death of her mother, her grandmother, Mrs. Rebecca Jackson, provided her a Christian environment a good home life for her and 8 siblings. On December 25, 1952 she married Rev. Dr. Johnny Lee Woodfaulk, Sr., to this union they were blessed with a son Johnny Lee Woodfaulk Jr., and a daughter Deborah Marie Rebecca Woodfaulk, both of Abilene, Tx.
Home for Henrietta "Honey" was Kingsville, Tx., were she was first lady of St. Paul A.M.E. Church for 15 yrs. Other great congregations in Texas included: Flatonia, Shiner. Gonzales, El Paso, Odessa, Abilene, Falfurrias, Weimar, Wharton, San Angelo, Athens, Brownwood, Bryan and Beaumont.
Henrietta "Honey" Woodfaulk leaves to not mourn but to cherish her memory; son Johnny Lee, Jr.; daughter Deborah Woodfaulk, both of Abilene, two grandchildren, Aaron Lee Washington and wife Sherrill of Odessa, Tx, and Misty Mashall Maxie of Richardson, Tx; 3 great-grandchildren; Ke'Jordan Washington, Aariell Washington, and Jackson (Jack) Washington all of Odessa. Two sisters, Dovie Brantford and Erma Ellison of Luling, Tx, nieces, and nephews and a host of extended family and friends.
