Helen Joyce Dase was born on December 19, 1945, as the sixth child of Paul Dase Sr. and Willie Mae Milsap Dase of Heidelberg, Jasper County, Mississippi. She united with the body of Christ in her confession of Faith at Shady Grove Baptist Church. She was a gifted basketball athlete at Southside High School where she graduated in 1963. Although offered a scholarship to attend a college in Mississippi, Helen elected to.attend Jarvis Christian College, Hawkins, TX, Majoring in Elementary Education with a minor in History.
There she met and married her beloved husband of 52 years, 11 months, Irving Henry Allen Sr. in 1964. To this union were born three children. She completed her Elementary Education degreein 1972. Her teaching experiences included the Unincorporated Elementary School Lodi, Marion County, TX, Big Sandy, TX, and in Austin, TX, where President Lyndon B. Johnson's grandchild was in her class. After completing her Master's degree in Elementary Education with an early childhood endorsement. She became the lead teacher at the award winning State of Texas Certified, Gladys Gill Early Childhood Center located on the campus of Jarvis Christian College.
She taught at the elementary school on the Fort Riley Army Installation at Fort Riley, Kansas. She continued her teaching at Crosby Elementary School in Crosby, TX. Her teaching concluded with a disability retirement at J.J. McMillian Elementary School Dallas ISD in 1994.
Church affiliations in Houston, Texas included Garden Grove Christian Church and Contemporary Christian Church where her husband pastored. In Dallas, Texas she affiliated with Romine Avenue Christian Church, New Birth Baptist Church, and The Way, The Truth, and The Life Christian Church.
She was an avid reader. Her remaining years were spent nurturing her grandchildren.She continued to display her fortitude while struggling during her last 25 years with Multiple Sclerosis.
She answered Gods call on Wednesday, November 1, 2017. She was preceded by her parents Paul Dase Sr, Willie Mae Dase and Everline Dase of Heidelberg, MS; Brother Elige "L" Dase of Chicago, IL, Sister Betty Dase Banks of Chicago, IL; She is survived by Husband Rev Dr.Irving Henry Allen Sr of Dallas, TX; Children Irving Henry Allen Jr (Elizabeth) of Layton, UT; Steven Scott Allen of Dallas, TX; Hope Rashae Allen of Dallas, TX; Siblings Paul Dase Jr (Mary) of Chicago, IL; Ora Harkey (Frank) of Dallas,TX; Louise Jones of Chicago,IL;Number of grandchildren 9; Number of great Grandchildren 9; Nieces 6; Nephews 9, and a host of other relatives and friends
