George Raymond Dyer of Fort Worth, Texas went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on June 27, 2026 in his home in Fort Worth, Texas. He was born on April 3, 1948 in Stuttgart, Arkansas to George Edward and Katherine Watkins Dyer. He graduated with a bachelor's degree from the University of Arkansas in Little Rock. After graduation, he served four years with the United States Air Force, which led him to Fort Worth, Texas. After serving in the Air Force, he stayed in Fort Worth and began working for the railroad industry. He continued his career with the railroad and transportation industry until retirement.
An avid music lover, George practiced music through school and continued his passion with the church choir and several choral groups for many years. He met his beloved wife Cherre and they married March 12, 1983. In 1985, their daughter Rachael was born.
One of the greatest joys in life was being called "Granddaddy." In 2021, the family welcomed their first granddaughter, and their second granddaughter was welcomed in 2022.
George was preceded in death by his parents George Edward and Katherine Dyer, and step-son Toby Pugh.
He is survived by his beloved wife Cherre, daughter Rachael and her husband Brad Powers, granddaughters Elizabeth and Katherine; sister-in-law Jo, her husband Jim Grier, and son Robert Fielder; brother-in-law Don Adams and his wife Bonnie Pool, his sons Donny Adams and Tim Mellers, along with many cousins.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 7, 2026 from 10:30-11:30am at Brownwood Funeral Home. Burial to follow at Bangs Cemetery. A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 10, 2026 at 11am at Sagamore Church in Fort Worth. Arrangements entrusted to Brownwood Funeral Home.
