Gary Dean Lewis, 67, passed away on March 18, 2026, at Brownwood Medical Center in Brownwood, Texas. Mr. Lewis was born on November 18, 1959, in Decatur, Illinois, the son of Donald Dean Lewis and Marie (Jargon) Lewis. The Lewis family of eight moved to Phoenix, Arizona on December of 1969. Gary held various positions throughout his life, including work at Octopus Carwash and Maryvale Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona; St. Mary's Hospital in Decatur, Illinois; and Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) in Decatur. He had a passion for collecting music, especially 45s and LP records, and built an extensive collection featuring his favorite bands, The Beatles and KISS. Gary also enjoyed collecting NASCAR race cars and took great pride in his electric train sets, complete with a detailed village display in his basement and garage. In addition, he loved gardening and found joy in tending to his plants. Gary was a man of faith and attended Oreana Baptist Church in Oreana, Illinois. He is survived by his sisters, Terry (Carl) Buetzow of Peoria, Arizona, and Kathy Connolly of Humble, Texas; and his brothers, Larry Lewis of Decatur, Illinois, and Jerry (Denise) Lewis of Glendale, Arizona. He was a loving uncle to 15 nephews and 7 nieces, all of whom he cherished deeply. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Donald D. Lewis and Marie (Mary) Jargon Lewis Foley, and his sister, Cindy Marie Kieffer. Gary will be remembered for his warm spirit, his many hobbies, and the love he shared with his family and friends.
