Elizabeth "Beth" Maxcey, 83, passed away peacefully surrounded by the care and support of those who loved her. Beth was born on October 20, 1942, in Post, Texas to Lester Maxcey and Malley Maxcey. She was raised in Texas and attended San Saba High School. She continued her education at Howard Payne University and Texas State University, where she earned her teaching degree. Beth dedicated her life to education and the pursuit of learning, touching the lives of many through her work and example. Beth was preceded in death by her parents, Lester Maxcey and Malley Maxcey; her brother, Bobby Joe Maxcey of Richland Springs; her sister, Rawnie Sue Bargsley of Oak Hill, Texas; her niece, Debra Kate Maxcey-Cooksey of Olathe; and her niece, Patricia Ann Bargsely of Austin. She is survived by her nephew, Michael Joe Maxcey of Richland Springs; her nephew, John Edward Bargsley, Jr. of Houston; her niece, Donna Kaye Reeves of Sylvania; and many beloved great-nieces and great-nephews who will cherish her memory. Beth had a passion for traveling, discovering new places, spending time with family, and enjoying a good cup of coffee. She treasured the relationships she built throughout her life and was happiest when sharing stories, laughter, and conversation with those she loved. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Songbird Lodge Nursing & Rehabilitation for their compassionate care and kindness. Special thanks are also extended to Ed and Margie McMillan for the love, friendship, and devoted care they showed Beth, especially during her final years. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice in Beth's memory. Arrangements are entrusted to Brownwood Funeral Home. Beth's warmth, independence, love of adventure, and devotion to family will be remembered always. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched and the memories she leaves behind.
