Earlene Williams Chatman, 85, of Brownwood received her heavenly wings Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at Hendricks Medical Center in Abilene. The celebration of her life will be held Monday, April 6 at 11:00 am at the Austin Avenue Church of Christ at 1020 Austin Avenue with Brother Willie Henderson officiating. She was the tenth of twelve children born to the parentage of Henry and Nora Williams. She attended public schools in Rock Hill, Texas. She accepted Christ at an early age and was a dedicated follower of Jesus Christ. She was a long time member of West Austin Church of Christ. She met the love of her life Leanord Roy Chatman in Brownwood, and they married on October 10, 1969 and spent many wonderful years together until his death in 2000. Ms. Earlene (as most in the community called her) was a lover of all children. She took on the role of "mother" to several children she raised as her own. She loved baby sitting and kept children until two days before her life here on earth ended. She actually touched the lives of hundreds of children. Ms. Earlene loved to talk and would talk hours just about life and day to day things. She was a good example of what it meant to truly being a good neighbor. Many evenings you could find her playing bingo when her time and her health permitted her to do so. She loved fishing and cooking and shared many good cakes and other foods with her neighbor. She worked many years caring for the homes of Dr. & Mrs. J.B. Stephens, Jan and Billie Edmonds, and Ben & Cheri Steele just to name a few. Left to cherish her memories are her children. Phillip Williams (Nancy), and Kim Britton (Bill) all of Brownwood, granddaughter Crystal Razor ( who she raised as her own) and husband Anthony of Ft. Hood, Texas. Grand children A.D. & Ashley, Marina, Mariah, Devon, Phillip (Pip) and Keisean. 2 sisters: Lois Manzy of DeSoto, Texas, and Everlene Jackson of Midland, Texas, special long – time friend and caretaker Dorothy Robinson, pets: Rosco, Jasper, and Catty, numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, friends, and her church family. She was preceded in death by her husband Leonard Roy Chatman, Both parents, 5 sisters: Gladys Fuller, Irene Fuller, Ella Mae Williams, Odell Session, and Lorene Roberts, and 2 brothers Tom Ames Williams, and Jessie Williams. All arrangements entrusted to Brownwood Funeral Home.
