Dorothy Mae Tessier Harper, 93, of Abilene, passed away August 5, 2014 in her home. Dorothy was born January 19, 1921 in Globe, AZ and was a 1937 graduate of Clyde High School. She married Morris W. Harper on May 14, 1940 who preceded her in death in 1987.
Dorothy began her lifetime of service to others during her husband's deployment in WWII as a nurse in the Army receiving hospital in Missouri. She remained an active volunteer in the community and served on numerous boards and committees. She retired from WTU after twenty three years of service. The memory of Dorothy's selfless love, compassion, and generosity will be cherished by many generations.
She was preceded in death by her parents Dewey A. and Alice S. Tessier, a sister Elizabeth Gardner and a brother Dewey A. Tessier, Jr. She is survived by daughter Sue Mees (Roger) of Round Rock, Texas, Grandson Aaron Mees (Stephanie) of Friendswood, Texas Granddaughter Andrea Taylor (Lance) of Abilene, Texas, Great-grandsons Chandler Hartgraves, Chase Hartgraves, and Cameron Hartgraves.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Primary Nurse Care and Hospice of the Big Country for their care and support during her final months.
A memorial service will be held in the Chapel at the Episcopal Church of the Heavenly Rest located at 602 Meander Street on Saturday, August 9th at 1 pm.
