Obituary

Donna Kay Hancock Eberle, born March 20, 1947, to Tommie Hancock (Cox) and Cecil Hancock, passed away on April 21, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and creativity. Donna attended Carrizo Springs High School, where her story with the love of her life began. She met Michael at the age of 14 and they later eloped in Mexico, when she was 17. They returned to their separate houses and did not tell anyone that they had married for an entire month. Over the years, she built a life centered on family, hard work, and service to others. She worked as a hairdresser for many years, both for others and as the proud owner of her own shop, Donna's Headquarters, where she formed lasting friendships with those she served. While raising her daughter, Traci, Donna became an important part of the Red Oak ISD community, working in the school office and as a substitute teacher, impacting the lives of many students and staff. Later in life, she pursued a new calling, graduating from San Antonio College with a degree in Mortuary Science. She went on to serve families as a funeral director across Central Texas, offering compassion and care during their most difficult times. Donna had a lifelong love for cross-stitching, a craft that reflected her patience, attention to detail, and artistic spirit. She is survived by her beloved daughter, Traci; her son-in-law, Mike Kriesman; and her cherished grandchildren, Paige and Brady Kriesman. She is also survived by her sister, Karen Ward, and Karen's husband, Mark. Donna was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Dixie Neeley. Above all, Donna will be remembered for her deep love for her family and her lifelong devotion to her husband, Mike-a love story that began when she was just 14 years old and lasted a lifetime. A viewing will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026, from 11:30am-12:30pm, at Brownwood Funeral Home. Service will start at 12:30pm, following viewing. Arrangements are entrusted to Brownwood Funeral Home.
