Delores Johnson
January 13, 1958 - November 1, 2026
With loving hearts and cherished memories, the family of Delores Johnson announces her passing on November 1, 2026, at the age of 68. Delores departed this earthly life peacefully at home, surrounded by the love and comfort of her family and friends. Delores was born on January 13, 1958, in Rogers, Texas, to Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Hillyard. She attended Thatcher High School in Arizona and was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Throughout her life, Delores dedicated herself to caring for others. She worked as a caregiver at ResCare Assisted Living, where her compassionate spirit and willingness to help others made a difference in the lives of those she served. After years of devoted service, she retired, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and care. Delores found her greatest happiness in life's simple and beautiful moments. She loved traveling, visiting the beach, and spending peaceful days at the lake, where she could enjoy the beauty of nature and sitting in the jacuzzi. She was especially talented at creating beautiful handmade quilts, each lovingly crafted with patience and care. Above all else, Delores treasured her family. Her grandchildren brought immeasurable joy to her life, and her sons were her most precious possessions. The love she held for her children and grandchildren was boundless, and the memories they created together will forever remain in their hearts. Delores was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Billy Johnson Sr.; her son, Nicholas Scott; her brothers, Donald Ray Hillyard and James Thomas Hillyard Jr.; and her sisters, Willie May Mattlock and Elizabeth Cardriel. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her two sons, Lynn Scott and James Scott, both of Brownwood, Texas; her sisters, Betty Provencio, Ophelia Ferguson, Mattie Lacey, Judy Finley, and Mary Peterson; and numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. Delores will be remembered for her loving heart, her devotion to family, her caring nature, and the beautiful memories she created with those fortunate enough to know her. Although she is no longe physically present, the love she shared and the lives she touched will remain a lasting part of her legacy. A private graveside ceremony will be held at Rocky Creek Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to a local food bank or ARK DV Shelter, honoring Delores's compassionate heart and her desire to help those in need. The family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation to Delores's dear friends, Debbie Clendennen of Austin and Susan Taylor of Lake Brownwood, for their special care and unwavering loyalty. Her hands created beautiful quilts, her heart created lasting memories, and her love will forever be woven into the lives of those she leaves behind.
Forever loved. Forever remembered.
