Obituary

Clayton Landon Wissner, 71 of Early, Texas passed away December 31, 2021. A Memorial Service will be held January 22, 2022 at 1:00pm at High Mesa Cowboy Church in Brownwood, Texas. Clayton was born March 2, 1950 in Alvin, Texas. He began his career as a Union Lineman and eventually went on to work on the pipeline as an Operator, Foreman, Superintendent, and sometimes as an Inspector. His family was his first love, and the pipeline was his second. The love and loyalty that he had for both was shown through his words and actions. Clayton is preceded in death by his father, Elton Wissner Jr., Mother Hazel (Knape) Pendergrass, and bonus dad J.W. Pendergrass, maternal grandparents Joe and Florence Knape, and paternal grandparents Elton Sr. and Rose Wissner. Clayton is survived by his wife Helen; Sisters, Cindy Copeland, Elise White and husband Paul; Brothers, Lou Wissner and wife Brenda, Howard Wissner and wife Michelle; Five daughters, Julie Armstrong and husband Daymond, Mylissa McDonald and husband Steven, Tessa White, Shelly Fleming, and Barbie Jenkins. He was also blessed with five bonus children; Shannon Griffin, Bussie Adams and wife Brandi, Kevin Griffin and wife Christine, Christy Wynn and husband Joey, and Philip Tulcus. He was known as Papa Clayt or Papa to twenty-three grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He is also survived by many other family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations go to St. Jude or the Wounded Warrior Project.
